The world of auto dealership design is one that Stenbak Design Associates has been involved with since the early 1990s. With multiple dealerships completed, Roger Stenbak considers the Peters Honda project as one of the most interesting design opportunities offered to his firm. The Proko family has worked with Stenbak Design for several years with the renovations and expansions of its line of dealerships prior to committing to the construction of this building for the relocation of its existing Honda dealership.
The design elements of the building are derived from a vernacular of prototypical design utilized by many automobile manufacturers today. The unique qualities of this building are based around a sloping site, which limited some design opportunities and created others. The showroom and service reception areas are spacious and connected via a sloped walkway, which integrates a waiting and children's play area. The service repair center and parts distribution area of over 15,000 square feet provides a facility, which will be easily utilized for many years to come.
The building is steel framed, with an EIFS exterior, elements of the prototypical design include an Alucobond cylindrical entrance and wave canopy, giving it a distinct appearance, which is both forward-looking and inviting.
