MSPCA / Nevins Farm Riding Arena

Stenbak Design Associates has been involved with design and construction management needs for the MSPCA organization for over 20 years.  Our work has involved projects in several facilities, including the Angell Memorial Hospital in Boston.  The most recent project involved the construction of a fabric covered building for use as an indoor riding arena.

Working in conjunction with Cover-All Buildings, Stenbak completed the 14,400 sf facility in the fall of 2009.  The Nevins Farm facility provides care and training for horses which have been abandoned, abused or otherwise have been surrendered; the MSPCA staff provides rehabilitation services and training for the displaced horses, utilizing this facility for many aspects of the process preparing the horses for adoption.

The building is a tensioned skinned fabric with steel frames, set on a perimeter concrete base.  The footing material for the riding surface is a combination of sand and compacted stone dust.  The site amenities included bringing water and power to the building and extending the traveled paved road from the existing shelter to the new arena, located on a hill overlooking the farm below.
